Gmail OAuth for Magento 2

OAuth or simple login?

Google has now deprecated using the “Less secure apps” feature in your Google Account, which had been allowing 3rd party applications to log in and use your Gmail with a simple username/password combination.

This feature has been in use for decades for sending emails to your customers via a Gmail account. But it is now to be turned off completely.

The new way that Google offers now is to use the OAuth verification – authorization via a temporary token.

The module allows sending email messages from Magento to your customers using your Gmail account

What is this OAuth?

OAuth itself is a delegated authorization framework using API communication.

It enables apps to obtain limited access (scope) to a user’s data without giving away a user’s password – keeping you credentials safe.

Magento integration

We have developed a module for Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce) allowing sending emails from your Gmail account using the OAuth  token verification instead of simple login.
